Long Lake Summer Camp

In the early 1960's the will to establish a Baptist Youth Camp for the area around Bridgewater spawned within the Lunenburg-Queens Association of Churches, and a committee was formed to investigate possible sites. The committee was made up of Rev. Willard Smith, Rev. Eric Miner, Rev. and Mrs. Leon Wright, John Payzant and Laurie Delong. In the spring of 1964 their recommendation was presented to the association, and related to a 24-acre site belonging to Peter Croft of Buckfield, with 2500 feet of shoreline on Long Lake and bounded by the Buckfield-Waterloo road, very near the Lunenburg-Queens County line. It was wooded, centrally located for both counties, had a first-class shore for water sports and swimming, and plenty of room for camping.

Since then Long Lake Camp has developed into a traditional summer locale for meeting new friends, rekindling the old and developing a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
